Small Canadian Uni takes on Bush!

This small Canadian University has set up a highly controversial website entitled YaleShmale.com in which it claims that attending an Ivy league university does not make one more intelligent than any other student, for proof of which it uses a humourous picture of George Bush Jr. It is this picture which has seemingly caused most of the contoversy. I mean, I don't think that anyone (except maybe Yale and Harvard themselves) is arguing that just because you can afford to attend one of these universities that you are somehow more intelligent a human being than someone who attends there local state university or wherever, but the use of the United States presidents visage and pretty much calling him an idiot seems to have upset quite a few americans. Then again, who cares, its a bloody clever little campaign that's getting some well deserved attention for a small canadian university. And its FUNNY!

Stupid BPI.... rattchin frachin Dick Dastardly....

The stupid ass BPI (British Phonograph Industry) has just decided that for the good of all man kind, the police should stop protecting the public form rape and hate-crimes and start doing more about all of those dastardly filea-sharers who wouldn't even be buying most of the songs that they're buying amyway. I mean, where do they come off? The Police are a very limited resource, so where does this organisation, who do not even speak for all of their industry (I know that they on't speak for me or my band), get the right to tell the police what to do? Next thing you know they'll be influencing government legislation, but we all know that could never happen. :D

PAX 06

Okay, I TOTALLY wish that I could have gone to PAX this year. Shortage of funds was my ultimate downfall! Anyway I've been reading some of the fantastic coverage on
http://www.gamehelper.com/pax06/index.html

This event just looks and sounds like the BEST EVENT EVER!! I've never been like a long term Penny Arcade fan, I kind of check in on it every week or so, but a couple of my friends are daily readers. To be honest I am actually far more interested in the Expo itself. For once a gaming event which is not run by mega corporations, where the gamers are in charge.

I think it's stupid for people to say that this is the new E3 or whatever, I mean as far as I'm concerned E3 never looked this good! E3 always looked very stressful, and it occured to me years ago that it SHOULD be an industry invite only event. PAX is the perfect partner for E3, catering for the gamers themselves.

I'm starting saving now!

Pluto IS a Planet

"The re-classification adopted by the assembly, however, has been disputed by some members who had left the conference on the grounds that the timetable had been "hijacked" with only 4% of eligible voters being left in the conference room at the time the resolution was adopted"

This is the quote from the wikipedia article on Pluto. In my own opinion, Pluto should be kept as a planet, if only for the skae of tradition. I mean come on, who saidwe had to give equal status to all rocks? :D

BOL UK

I've been a regular listener to the Buzz Out Loud Podcast (http://bol.cnet.com/) for a long time now, and they recently featured this site which aims to get BOL to come to the UK. Now, as an Irish listener, and one of only i think 20 in the whole country, this is about as near as I'm ever going to get to actually meeting the BOL team, and for this reason, I am all for it. So please check out the site and stick your name to it!

BOL UK

Hi everybody! (nobody is reading this...) Sorry for the long delay in posting, the internet in my area was down for a while due to maintenance! Back to normal schedule now hopefully (e.g. none), so please, if you ARE reading this please don't be afraid to comment!

Whats up with Blogger

Okay, I know bloger is gone into Beta with all of these new features and such, which is great, but jees do I really have to log in five times in the space of ten minutes? Is this a glitch or what? I have no trouble when I'm just browsing around, but why can't it just remember my login?? Comment.

Nothing important

I'm just adding this blog to my Technorati Profile.

Tom and Jerry Smoking

Apparently Turner Broadcasting (the owner of Hanna-Barbera cartoons) "scouring" all of there old Tom and Jerry cartoons and systematically removing any references to smoking which could be seen as "glamorising" the act or as "cool". Is it just me or are the baby boomer soccer moms of this generation taking a little bit too conservative of a stance when it comes to what their kids can and cannot watch.

Hey, I personally have no objection to a mom or dad scolding a kid for turning on the Playboy channel at age 8 or for watching too much Jackass or any of those other stupid witless MTV shows. All of these things are dangerously imitatable at that age, and it is the parents repsonsibility to make sure that there kids don't get the chance to imitate it... But come on! An anthromorphic cat and mouse from the 50's? The great thing about those shows, was that they were so over the top, so absurd, that kids NEVER even THOUGHT of imitating them! Are we, by imposing these kinds of restrictions basically telling our kids that they are stupid? I think so, and I think that this kind of over the top censorship is insulting to all kids and especially to those who are more advanced for their age.

Whats worse is that this was all sparked off by the response of ONE parent. One Parent has basically been the cause of the gutting of a landmark in the realm of cartoon and animation. Whats next, are we going to ban "Black Books" because they show disrespect for that grand profession of Bookshop owner, or are we going to ban "Blackadder" because it is 'dangerously and grossly' historically incorrect?

Playstation 3 Development Kits

I actually came across this a few days ago but didn't blog it, and I just came across it agian today. So this is what the new PS3 devkits are looking like, I dunno if you can see it properly but even in relation to one of those Toshiba widescreens, this thing is HUGE. Also judging by the cooling system, and previous Sony devkits, it's LOUD.

Not the Country Club

Not the Country Club

Wow this is a great little political blog, and I highly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in situations such as Cuba or the Israel problem.

Steaks on a Plane!

Ah, the theatre of the absurd. Sorry for coming back to snakes on a plane fever so soon, but come on! HOW could I let this slip past??

Mothafuckin Daily Show!

Aw, Sam Jackson is just such a friggin right lad! I can't wait to see this movie!

Well, seeing as it's right down my alley...

The Hobo Nickel

"The hobo nickel is a sculptural art form involving the creative modification of small-denomination coins, essentially resulting in miniature bas reliefs. The nickel, because of its size, thickness, and relative softness, was a favored coin for this purpose. However, the term "hobo nickel" is generic, and carvings have been made from many different denominations.

Due to its low cost and portability, this medium was particularly popular among hobos, hence the name."

I'm sorry... But it's... Hilarious...

I suppose an Introduction is in Order...

I didn't do a lot today. It's not the first time it's happened lately, and it certainly won't be the last. I think that for most of the day I just sat around doing random internet stuff and listening to music. I just finished watching "Office Space", directed by Mike Judge. Definately one of my favourite movies of all time. Sometimes I wonder if I AM Peter Gibbons. I suppose the one major difference is that if I had one million dollars, I wouldn't do absolutely nothing. I'd probably invest a lot of it into recording gear and stuff. See, I don't actually mind working, I just don't like the work that I do at the moment. I absolutely HATE bar work. Where I work I've got at least four ACTUAL bosses, plus maybe ten more that THINK that they're my boss. The guy who actually runs the place, and the one guy I actually DO see as my boss keeps treating me like I've been working in the place for about two weeks!

I suppose I should set out how this blog is going to be laid out most of the time from now on.
Section One: General Thoughts of the Day
Section Two: Music Review of the day
Section Three: Movie Review of the Day

and anything else that pops into my head. Of course the majority of the blog will more than likely end up being just a lot of little things that I blog. I'm generally interested in Gadgets, Music, Movies and stuff so that'll probably be a lot of what I blog.

Anyway, Cheerio!
